Dysport: Better than BOTOX?

Dysport is a purified protein of botulinum toxin A that works by relaxing targeted facial muscles to soften fine lines and wrinkles on the forehead, crow’s feet and glabella. The process of relaxing these facial muscles ultimately results in the reduction and smoothing away of expression lines and wrinkles. The Dysport protein is slightly smaller than other purified proteins of botulinum toxin A, which enables the Dysport to have a more rapid onset, taking effect more quickly. Results can often be seen in as quickly as two to three days, compared to 7-14 days of other cosmetic injectables. How Does Dysport Work?

After the treatment of Dysport has taken effect, the epidermal layer of the skin (top layer) remains smooth and unwrinkled. At the same time, the untreated facial muscles are still able to contract and relax in a regular manner. Therefore, normal facial expression is unaffected while the Dysport has eliminated the deep dynamic wrinkles (wrinkles caused from movement) by relaxing the muscles that cause the wrinkle.

What is the main difference between Dysport and Botox?

Extensive research has shown that the main difference between Dysport and Botox is that results with Dysport appear sooner and can last longer than those of Botox. Typically, results from Botox can take up to 14 days to see maximum results. Results for Dysport can be noticed in as little as 3 days. Additionally, Allergan, the manufacture of Botox states the treatment can last up to 4-6 months, while Medicis, the manufacture of Dysport, has stated the treatment can last up to 6-8 months.
