Intermediate: Fraxel, Fractional and Fractionated laser Skin Resurfacing
Fractional or Fractionated laser skin resurfacing has been featured on the Today Show's Mini Medical Miracles with Kathy Lee, Entertainment Tonight, Oprah, and The View, just to name a few. It has been a news spot on news channel after news channel and has been seen in magazine after magazine. But why has it gotten all this attention? The answer is simple - because of its abilities to removes wrinkles, tighten skin, and thereby prevent the need for a face lift later in life.
You will see marked improvement after only your first treatment but in order to obtain the desired results a series is usually recommended*. Significant improvement has been achieved for acne scars, pigmentation disorders such as melasma, sun and age-damaged skin, lines and wrinkles, along with improvement in stretch marks and striate all scientifically documented from clinical researchers. Less aggressive treatments, like Fractionated 1550 and 1540 with brand names such as Fraxel re:store, Fraxel re:fine can produce significant results for mild to moderately damaged skin over the course of 3 to 6 treatments. Typically, there is no after treatment wound care with these treatments and downtime is minimal.

Aggressive Laser Skin Resurfacing: Sciton ProFractional and Fraxel re:pair® treatments
If you are interested in surgery-like results for the most severe skin damage then the Fraxel re:pair or Sciton PreFractional treatment is a preemptive strike against a facelift. The treatment tightens skin and corrects severe damage such as wrinkles, irregular texture, age spots/sunspots and sun-induced redness. Downtime: Most return to routine activities after a week. The most aggressive treatment, Fraxel re:pair or Sciton Pro-Fractional (CO2 and Erbium lasers) produce dramatic improvement for severely damaged skin. These are single treatment procedures, but will require more downtime and after treatment wound care.

Combined Treatments. MicroLaserPeel MLP in conjunction with Fractional Laser
Combining treatments has proven effective for a variety of skin conditions from photo aging to acne scarring, usually with greater efficacy than a single procedure.
Sciton’s dual-mode 2940 Er:YAG is used to perform the MicroLaserPeel® (MLP) procedure for light skin resurfacing with light ablation to treat fine lines and the visible signs of sun damage. Unfortunately, treating with MLP alone may be too shallow a procedure for the results that you are looking for because it doesn’t reach the mid dermis. By combining Fractional, or in some cases, ProFractional with MLP, Contoure can treat deeply into the dermis and achieve significant tone and texture improvements as well as the benefits of MLP. Combining the two lasers results in youthful radiance to the skin and a more effective final result.
